an optimistic winemaker

My name is Mathieu Eyhéramouno, a winemaker cultivating 13.76 hectares of contiguous clay-limestone terroir in Vertheuil, in the Haut-Médoc AOC. My philosophy: that of an independent winemaker, a staunch optimist, and a lover of life, wine, and the authentic, unifying connections that wine fosters. Let me tell you about the unique journey that gave rise to Vins de l’Optimiste. 🍇✨🌿🍷

Cultivation Philosophy

Being an optimistic winemaker 🍷 means caring for our terroir by regenerating its living ecosystems through reduced tillage—inspired by the work of Masanobu Fukuoka 🍃—so that we can pass it on to future generations.

Our work focuses primarily on the vineyard.

The goal is to harvest the finest grapes at peak ripeness in order to optimize the winemaking process.

  • We limit pump-overs during alcoholic fermentation. 🍇
  • Aging is tailored to each cuvée, always with the goal of highlighting the fruit. 🍷🍒
  • We have been Terra Vitis certified since 2011 and High Environmental Value certified since 2019. 🌿🌍
